[published_date]

Police are searching for a man in connection with three deaths and arson that happened Friday night at a residence in Bracebridge.

The man, 29, who is from Bracebridge, is wanted for murder, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said in a post on X, formerly Twitter, on Saturday. He is described as approximately 5’8″ tall, with light brown hair and facial hair, police said.

Officers responded to a report of gunfire at approximately 8 p.m. on Beatrice Town Line Road on Friday. When they arrived, they found a dead man and the residence was engulfed in flames, OPP said.

After investigating, officers confirmed two additional people were found dead inside the residence, which was destroyed in the fire, OPP said in a news release Sunday.

Identities cannot be disclosed until a post-mortem examination is conducted, the release said.

Police say they do not believe there is a threat to public safety at this time. A shelter-in-place was in effect for Bracebridge until 1:45 a.m. on Saturday.

Bracebridge OPP’s crime unit is investigating, alongside the OPP’s Emergency Response Team, Tactical Response Unit and Central Region Canine Unit.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers.
