Canadian shot put star Sarah Mitton placed second at the Diamond League track and field stop in Brussels on Friday.
American Chase Jackson won the event with a meet-record throw of 20.90 metres.
Mitton, who had already clinched her spot in next week’s Diamond League Final in Zurich, topped out at 19.89m.
The Brooklyn, N.S., native ranks third in the standings, behind back-to-back world champion Jackson and the Netherlands’ Jessica Schilder, who took silver behind Mitton at this year’s indoor world championships.
Mitton won her first Diamond League Trophy last September, joining previous winners Priscilla Lopes-Schliep (100m hurdler, 2010), shot putter Dylan Armstrong (2011) and sprinter Andre De Grasse, who won the men’s 200m title in 2023.
Sarah Mitton from Brooklyn, N.S., finished second in the women’s shot put at the Diamond League stop in Brussels, Belgium, with a distance of 19.89.
